Guy on the phone is like, “Ohh ... well ... umm ... geez ...
Dude, it’s Thursday. It is not unreasonable that you can’t get me in in the next 3 minutes so I ask him what’s the earliest we can do this.
Then he’s like, “Well the earliest we can do it is .... mumble mumble
I was completely speechless. Eventually I recovered and accepted his offer to schedule me in 2 business days.
Are people normally calling alignment shops on their way to them?

I briefly worked in the service department of a dealership, was not uncommon for customers to get extremely upset when the advisor told them that appointments we’re booking a few weeks out or that their walk-in brake job and 90k service couldn’t be completed that day because it was already 3pm.
Two business days sounds great though, maybe he is used to dealing with angry calls?

I would not be the least bit surprised. Additionally, if it’s a shop that does tires all the time, *that* is a business that will have people call on their way through the door, big time, and might be contributing to general customer-is-nuts sense.

That has to be it. I was really expecting a long wait after his ramp up. Then he said next week and then Monday.

No tires. Just alignments and exhausts.

You were trying to get an appointment at Buff Whelan , weren’t you?
“Ohh ... well ... umm ... geez ...

I had a similar experience last time I called to schedule an appointment for an alignment. And now that I think about it, my wife got the same reaction when she called to schedule an appointment for in inspection. We’re calling to schedule an appointment from the comfort of our home with running and driving vehicles, so, you know, we both know when it’s going to happen.
For some reason though, doctors’ offices don’t seem nearly as concerned when they tell you it’ll be 3 weeks until they can get to you.

My Dr recently told me if I wanted to reschedule it’d be 2018 at the earliest without an ounce of regret in their voice haha.

Probably a third of my customers are waiters and half of those are walk ins. So yeah. People expect their shit done right now no matter what.

Damn, I just scheduled a minor surgery with a doctor and got a week turnaround for a same day consult/procedure.
My alignment place is usually booked out 1-2 days so I have to make an appointment.

I pretty much figured this was the underlying truth.

Yeah I dunno what’s wrong at my doctor’s but I like and trust him so I put up with it.

Bizarre. When I got my alignment done I called the shop a week in advanced. They actually tried to convince me to come in earlier. Although to be fair this was a specialty tuner shop.

He probably can’t hear you from the comfort of his 911.

Nah, he’s a Subaru guy.

He sounds alright in my book now.

Right, this is why I put up with this.

I did an allignment on my car a week ago and had to go back 2 days later because it wasnt done properly. The car still isnt alligned properly (veers a bit off to the right), Im about ready to crash the car through their front door (the shop is supposed to be one of the better ones in the country).
It sounds like the guy was too lazy to earn some money on you...?

I think they were just booked up for the next couple days and are actually used to people calling and wanting it done right now.
